Neuropsychology is a sub-specialty of clinical psychology that specializes in the diagnostic assessment and treatment of individuals with disorders related to cognitive, academic, learning, social, emotional, or other developmental issues.
What distinguishes a clinical neuropsychologist from other clinical psychologists is an extensive knowledge of the brain-behavior relationship, including an understanding of areas such as: neurocognitive functioning, neuroanatomy, neurological illness or injury, neurodevelopment, the use of neuropsychological tests to accurately assess cognitive deficits, emotional disorders, behavioral disturbances, and the management/treatment of brain injured or neurocognitively impaired individuals.
NEAT neuropsychologists hold an advanced degree in clinical psychology (a doctorate level qualification: Ph.D.) and have completed further studies in neuropsychology, neurology, and related disciplines.
Our NEAT Education Specialist holds an advanced academic degree with a focus of understanding how an individual learns in educational settings, the effectiveness of educational interventions, the approach of teaching, and the psychology of schools as organizations. Educational evaluations are concerned with how a student learns and develops, often focusing on subgroups such as the gifted child and those with specific learning or developmental disabilities.
Educational therapy is an intensive process of teaching and learning. Each child's program is designed to meet that child's individual needs.
Educational therapy strengthens a student's academic and processing weaknesses through specialized methodologies and teaching materials. Teaching is presented in an organized, structured, and sequenced approach.

Children/Adolescents
A typical neuropsychological, psychological, educational, or psychoeducational evaluation of a child/adolescent may include an assessment of these areas:
- General intellect or cognitive ability
- Achievement skills (e.g., reading, writing, and math)
- Executive function (e.g., organization, planning, impluse control, self-regulation, emotional control, self-initiation, time management, and working memory)
- Attention and concentration
- Learning and memory
- Language
- Visual-spatial and perceptual skills
- Motor coordination and sensory awareness
- Behavioral and emotional functioning

Some abilities may be measured in more detail than others, depending on the individual's needs. A detailed developmental history and data from the child's teacher may also be obtained. Observing your child in school to better understand his or her motivation, cooperation, and behavior is a very important part of our evaluation

- Attention and concentration

- Mood and personality
- Social skills
Some abilities may be measured in more detail than other areas, depending on your needs.
